Canyon Ridge, which opened in 2005, is one of those courses you'll never forget. It's simply stunning. The course was beautifully designed by Rick Robbins to complement a gorgeous piece of mountain real estate just 30 minutes south of Chattanooga in far northwest Georgia. Routed expertly through mountain meadows, across streams and along dramatic natural rock landscapes, this course will take your breath away.

Typically, when I map a course for GolfBuddy, I'm all business... nose down, marking tees, targets and greens and moving on to the next course. When I mapped Canyon Ridge, that all went away. I spent the afternoon with my mouth open, paying more attention to the spectacular views and the beautiful layout than to the work at hand. I have since had the pleasure of playing the course and it is everything I want in a golf course.
From every set of tees, the game is on. The back tees, at a rating of 72.3 and a slope of 139, will challenge the best players, while the gentler 67.8 rating and 127 slope of the white tees demands all the game us geezers can muster. But at the end of the round, the satisfaction of playing a wonderful course in gorgeous surroundings will leave you planning your next visit to Rising Fawn, Georgia.
THERE'S GOOD NEWS!: Under new ownership, Canyon Ridge is coming back, and doing so as a public course. I heard from course architect, Rick Robbins, that it may be the Fall before they can get the course back into the kind of shape that first sold me on this great layout, but they're working hard on bringing condition back to its previously very high standards. Rumor has it they are even bringing back the former Superintendent, Ben Waide.
Head Professional, Doug Amor, has worked at several top Tennessee courses during his career, and was the recipient of the state of Tennessee's PGA “Growth of the Game” award in 2004. He has been at Canyon Ridge since 2007. Doug is an incredibly nice guy, and if your game needs a tuneup when you visit Canyon Ridge, he's your guy! If you see course superintendent, Ben Waide, during your round, you'll want to thank him for the amazing work he and his crew do to keep the course in spectacular condition.
Canyon Ridge is easily accessible from Chattanooga, Atlanta and Huntsville... and it's well worth the drive. There are even houses, cabins and villas on the property you can rent if you wish to stretch your time at Canyon Ridge into a memorable golf weekend. So do yourself a favor and call the folks at Canyon Ridge to book your golf trip today.
