Now help me get out of here, would you!?

If you're wondering why we believe Hidden Fairways deserve more attention than they generally receive, check out this comment from golf writer, Jaime Diaz...

"In a growth spurt built on consumerism run amok, the game ended up with too much of the wrong stuff - overly watered and manicured golf courses, giant clubhouses, high green fees and membership dues, and a lot of talk about the golf industry and not enough about the golfer.  The essential game got lost."

Applewood is one of the friendliest golf courses I've ever visited. After all, that was the plan from the beginning. Owners Chuck and Tina Baer spent their early careers in high pressure corporate positions, and built the course because they wanted to work in an industry in which folks are happy!

Visit Applewood's Web Site.

In addition to being an owner, Chuck Baer is also the course designer. Being an avid golfer does not necessarily make one a course architect, but Chuck has succeeded where many owner/designers have not. The beginnings of a front nine were in place when the Baers acquired the property, so Chuck stayed roughly with the design the previous owner had started, and then designed his own back nine. To his credit, the back nine is the better of the nines, both aesthetically and as a golf challenge. The course is well-defended by excellent bunkering and water hazards that are both beautiful and scary. And the greens are excellent. Hats off to Superintendent, Rufus Mitchell, who keeps the course is spectacular condition.

Applewood opened in 1996 and today it's exactly what the Baers were looking for... a warm, friendly golf course. Tina manages the food service portion of Applewood, while Chuck focuses his efforts on the golf.

If you are in the Augusta area… especially during Masters Week… you'd be crazy not to play Applewood. While many area courses boost their rates to astronomical numbers during golf's migration to Mecca, the most Applewood has ever raised theirs is $10. So make a note, and be sure to include Applewood Golf Course in your golfing future.
