The Courses Timing is Everything
Taking photos of golf courses is amazing fun for me, but things don't always go smoothly. A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph Atlanta Country Club's beautiful course, but the rain gods had other plans.
My good friend, Tom Brown, is a member at Atlanta Country Club, so I've had several opportunities to play the course. I was thrilled to be asked to photograph it. It's a beaut. ACC was the original host club for the PGA Tour's Bell South Classic, before the tournament moved to TPC at Sugarloaf and then left the PGA's rotation altogether. It remains one of Atlanta's premiere private clubs.On this particular day, I had spent a few hours scouting specific shooting locations and had begun the afternoon's adventure when some very powerful storms rolled thru. These were not showers. These were gully washers. Less than a half hour before I took this shot, the entire first fairway was under water, but the rain was so dense you could hardly see at all. So I waited until the downpour abated a bit and shot these small rivers streaming down the hill. A nice shot, but not what a golf course wants, in the way of photos of their course!
