The Courses A Hidden Fairways Flag
The last week of June found me in Alabama, visiting Hidden Fairways courses and taking new photographs. Course conditions at Hidden Meadows and at Cullman were amazing. And as always, Cider Ridge is simply a beautiful Bill Bergin course. Even if it's a touch ragged around the edges right now, plans already in place will have it in premium condition very soon.
I took this shot at Hidden Meadows. While I was rooting thru the shots I took there on the 29th, this one sort of jumped out at me as a perfect representation of Hidden Fairways. It's beautiful and proud, even if it is just a touch ragged! To be perfectly clear, very few Hidden Fairways courses are actually ragged. Some are amazing on all levels. But since many HF courses are owned by individuals or families or small communities, tight budgets require a strong dose of prioritizing.
Right now, Cider Ridge may be in the best position to upgrade the product it offers golfers. With a new management agreement with Honours Golf, the town of Oxford has agreed to some needed capital improvements. Soon there will be new paths, upgraded bunkers and better overall maintenance, the latter thanks to a new superintendent with a lot of experience with bent grass. Other courses are just carrying on, as always, doing what needs to be done the best way they can. And in almost all cases, the results are very impressive! So make plans now... why play the same old course this weekend when there's some great golf just around the corner?
